Last week we spoke about our favourite kitchen trends in 2016. This time we are going to introduce some of the styles we expect to see in 2017, including feature elements, kitchen finishes and even a kitchen comeback! See what you think about the kitchens we think will be influencing our designers’ imaginations when they create your perfect bespoke kitchen next year.
Tuxedo Cabinets and Doors
A different take on the two-tone look that was so popular in 2016 – tuxedo doors add a touch of fun to any home kitchen. Pair white with black or mix colours for one of the hottest trends of 2017. Our tip – if you like the look but don’t want to go too wild try mixing navy blue and light grey for a softer contrast.
Be prepared to see colours that you wouldn’t normally associate with kitchen design. 2017 will see a trend for darker colours, pushing design boundaries and acknowledging that our kitchens are now used for entertaining as well as food preparation. Concrete is also one to watch as tones of black, greys, and lava make an appearance – we can’t wait!
Breakfast on the Island
As islands become a focal point of the 21st century kitchen there’s no longer an appetite for separate dining areas and the traditional dining room table. Instead we expect to see homeowners incorporating the breakfast bar and dining table into their kitchen island, using different materials to contrast with the main worktop and create a great design feature. Timber will be the most popular, which is warm to eat at and a perfect texture for a breakfast bar.
Go Wacky with White
White won’t be just white, it will become a whole lot wackier. Mix it with bright colours, geometric shapes and textures to jazz up a modern kitchen space. Check out the BioGraphy range Style 1 for some inspiration if this is something you fancy for your kitchen.
Get ready for curves in your kitchen! Milligan & Jessop are already big fans of curved kitchen designs – we love their space-saving qualities and extra-ordinary design. Expect 2017 to present a lot more curved and oval shaped islands. Take a look at the Metris website for lots of curved island ideas.
