Modern Kitchen in Wakefield
A modern kitchen from Second Nature in a combination of White and Wenge
This industrial style kitchen has the perfect compromise between modern and traditional styles, every finishing touch has been carefully and thoughtfully chosen. Featuring wood doors, a range cooker and a brick wall - three things you would find more commonly in a classical kitchen - however this kitchen continues to feel modern, playing on the industrial theme.

The doors are a combination of high gloss Avant White on the larder units and a Mali Wenge door for the base units and surrounds. The dark wood effect doors provide an excellent contrast to the white, and also, rather than looking traditional, they look ultra-modern and fit in incredibly well with the industrial theme. A peninsula means the room is slightly separated from the soft seating area, and also provides a breakfast bar.
The worktop is a Staron in Metallic Yukon. Keeping the worktop very pale, almost white, complements the white larder units while contrasting the darker wenge doors. This provides a very clean, fluid finish to the kitchen. Rather than opting for a standard matching Staron splashback behind their oven, our clients chose to tile the whole wall in a brick style, again contributing to the industrial style our clients were going for.
The integrated appliances in the larder units are Neff appliances, these are a coffee machine and a microwave. All the appliances in the kitchen are stainless steel, and all look right at home in this room. The range is a Stoves range cooker, and a Caple extractor and wine cooler finish off the appliances in this kitchen. A large stainless steel American style fridge freezer also provides plenty of food storage space.
The sink is a moulded Staron sink to match the worktop in Metallic Yukon. The tap is an unusual waterfall tap in brushed chrome and wenge, this provides an interesting feature in the kitchen and, along with all the other accessories, pulls together the industrial-style theme. Being in front of the window means our clients can enjoy the view whilst washing up.
Quite a few accessories pull this stunning kitchen together; in cabinet carousels mean extra storage space and easy access to corner cupboards and two pull-outs make organising cupboards easy for our clients. The flooring is a stunning grey Quickstep flooring, and the brick wall is tiled. The lights, wall accessories and handles, all chosen by our clients finish off this industrial themed kitchen beautifully.

Design Tip
‘John and Nicole wanted a kitchen that had industrial and urban influences. Our designer chose to feature brick-style tiles for the back wall which provide a rustic feel to the kitchen. The added dark wood effect doors contrast well with the white high gloss doors, adding the necessary modern element.’
